VOITH Linear Jet: Shape Optimization of the Blades, the Nozzle and the Hull

At the CAESES Users Meeting 2o17, David Bendl from VOITH Turbo gave an update and further insights into his work on the VOITH Linear Jet (VLJ). The VLJ combines the best properties of propellers with the best properties of waterjets. One of the design challenges is to maintain a high efficiency across a wide operating range while delaying the onset of cavitation.

Since David came up with an exciting set of new pictures, illustrations and animations, we have now updated the case study “Design and Optimization of the Voith Linear Jet“. Check out this interesting and challenging engineering task!
