We are happy to announce that FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS AG has taken over the entire business of Friendship Systems GmbH. The team and the software you know stay the same but the legal set-up has changed.
FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS stands for Computer Aided Engineering solutions with the flagship product CAESES. Continuity is key: “FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS stays committed to outstanding software and excellent services. We will carry on developing and licensing CAESES for our customers, users, and cooperation partners as before,” said Claus Abt, member of the executive board. Formally, FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS AG has acquired the business from Friendship Systems GmbH, a subsidiary of DNV GL, and now is its legal successor.
“Having made our name in the maritime industry where we have established CAESES as the industry standard for ship optimization, the new legal set-up reflects our strategy to expand into new industries such as automotive, turbomachinery, and energy. These are the markets that started to embrace simulation-driven design and in which we have seen our fastest growth,” said Dr Stefan Harries, also member of the executive board. “We will further strengthen CAESES in the maritime industry, building on our experience and partners.”
Simulation-driven design will stay the focus for FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS. Upcoming soon: the professional CAE package known as FRIENDSHIP-Framework will be simply called CAESES while the free community edition will be kept as CAESES Free.

It is the independent legal successor of Friendship Systems GmbH which started as a spin-off from the Technical University Berlin in 2003 and became part of Germanischer Lloyd (now DNV GL) in 2008. DNV GL provided an excellent ground for steady development of CAESES from 2009 to 2014 and has been very supportive of the new way ahead.
