FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS now a Stock Corporation

We are happy to announce that FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS AG has taken over the entire business of Friend­ship Systems GmbH. The team and the software you know stay the same but the legal set-up has changed.

FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS stands for Computer Aided Engi­neer­ing solu­tions with the flagship product CAESES. Con­ti­nu­ity is key: ​“FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS stays com­mit­ted to out­stand­ing software and excel­lent services. We will carry on devel­op­ing and licens­ing CAESES for our cus­tomers, users, and coop­er­a­tion partners as before,” said Claus Abt, member of the exec­u­tive board. Formally, FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS AG has acquired the business from Friend­ship Systems GmbH, a sub­sidiary of DNV GL, and now is its legal successor.

“Having made our name in the maritime industry where we have estab­lished CAESES as the industry standard for ship opti­miza­tion, the new legal set-up reflects our strategy to expand into new indus­tries such as auto­mo­tive, tur­bo­ma­chin­ery, and energy. These are the markets that started to embrace sim­u­la­tion-driven design and in which we have seen our fastest growth,” said Dr Stefan Harries, also member of the exec­u­tive board. ​“We will further strengthen CAESES in the maritime industry, building on our expe­ri­ence and partners.”

Sim­u­la­tion-driven design will stay the focus for FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS. Upcoming soon: the pro­fes­sional CAE package known as FRIEND­SHIP-Frame­work will be simply called CAESES while the free com­mu­nity edition will be kept as CAESES Free.

FRIEND­SHIP SYSTEMS AG is an inde­pen­dent stock cor­po­ra­tion reg­is­tered in Berlin and head-quar­tered in Potsdam, Germany. It is the inde­pen­dent legal suc­ces­sor of Friend­ship Systems GmbH which started as a spin-off from the Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­sity Berlin in 2003 and became part of Ger­man­is­cher Lloyd (now DNV GL) in 2008. DNV GL provided an excel­lent ground for steady devel­op­ment of CAESES from 2009 to 2014 and has been very sup­port­ive of the new way ahead.
