Hello all,

I'm trying to import a VTK_PolyData (.vtp) into the Caeses. I'm using the Data Connection -> VTK option.

However, Caeses can't find any data on it, because no object is created in the Obejct Three.

 

I'm using the vtkXMLPolyDataWriter to write the VTK file. Is it supported? Should I use another writer?

Hey Humberto,

 

did you try to load the VTK-file within a Software Connector?

 

To do it follow these steps:

  1. open CAESES
  2. create a Software Connector: menu > connections > Software connector
  3. save your project
  4. click on 'computation' it's in the middle of the Software Connector widget and create a 'local application'
  5. change the name to Dummy and set as executable 'wordpad.exe' oder any other executable you like
  6. copy your result file to ':myproject/manual_results/baseline/computation/
  7. Software Connector widget: click on the green plus in the result file area to add a result file and choose your VTK file or click on the 'paper with a magnifying lens' this should automatically find your vtk file
  8. select the 'computation' and click the play button
  9. go to the Connections tab and click on the plus in front of computation and you should see your vtk data file. now you can start to create the post processning plots.

If that is not working do not hesitate to ask me again.

It might be good if you could upload the vtk file.

Hey Humberto,

 

Just a remark: It should be ok to use the data connection as described in your question, i.e. the software connector is not required (however, this is our typical use case). The vtk content should be visible and ready for configuring in the "connections" tab of the CAESES GUI. If this is not the case, probably this specific vtk content is not supported yet. But we can double-check and come back to you...

Hi Karsten and Joerg,

I tryed the procedure that Karsten sugested, but still caeses can't read the vtk file.

I'll try to use another VTK writer.

Can you send either Jörg or me your VTK-file? We can take a look at it and find out where the problem is.

It would be very helpful.

 

If you don't want to share your vtk-file with everybody you can also create a new topic in the bugs forums section.

Topics in the bugs section are only visible for you and our team.

Hey Karsten,

 

I tryed to upload the file in the first message, but I got an error message: "You are'nt permitted to upload this kind of file."

 

There are another way to send it to you?

 

I added the code writed into the .vtp file to the message. Maybe you can have an idea about the problem with it.

I think we don't allow to upload every file extensions

but you can create an archive (zip, tar.gz, rar ...) and upload it.
