Mr. Kevin Noob 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Hi all, noob here. I have a design question I was hoping to get some assistance with. I wanted to create a simple spiral, just a line rotating around an axis z. However, I want to be able to change the rate that it is rotating about z. So it would be a spiral that would get tighter as it went, or whatever you wanted hopefully tied to a function. A parabola would make a spiral that starts with slow rotation, gets tighter in the middle, and loosens back up. I believe this should be pretty simple but I haven't figured it out. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. (the more detail the better...noob here)Thanks
Mr. Carsten Fuetterer 9 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Hi Kevin, you can use the generic curve and implement the definition of a helix. For the radius, you can define a function, for example a bsplinecurve with 3point. This function can be defined in xy plane, where the y coordinate defines the radius. Attached is an example for this. best regards Carstenhelix.fdb
