Guest Ms. utako tanizawa Report post Posted October 20, 2015 Hi. I'm Utako. I'm a CAD beginer.I tried "Yacht Hull" from samples.then I make a ship based on "Yacht Hull".I set 3 points ( keel, mid, deck) at create function and these are connected by NURBS curve. So, I understood cross sections(y-z) is based on NURBS curve.but, what is form in ship length direction based on ?Is it NURBS Curve? Willy Maschen 1 Report post Posted October 20, 2015 Hallo Utako, what happens is, that the NURBS curves show you how the certin variables change opther the length. So for example the deck-y curve represents how the y position of the deck is changing.I would recommend you to do the "Yacht Hull" tutorial. It will help understanding the modeling i think. Karsten Wenzke 12 Report post Posted October 20, 2015 Hey Utako, The length of the ship is the max x length of the function curves. All the end points of the function curves are controlled by the parameter length.Which is 1 when you start. If you change the length parameter to 5 the ship will have a length of 5. The length parameter is also set as end base position of the meta surface "Hull". For an explanation about the meta surface simply select the Meta surface Hull and press F1 on your keyboard. For a better understanding I would recommend the Yacht hull tutorial and the other tutorials of themeta surface section. There is also a tutorial included (Fast Monohull) which creates a more complex hull shape with several meta surfaces. If you have any further question do not hesitate to post them. Cheers, Karsten
