Ms. Patricia Korth 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2014 Hi, please find attached a high-parameterized airplane wing. It is created with a flexible metasurface with the result that the wing-shape can be changed in many ways as you like. For the airfoil I used the NACA four-digit definition. So as usual:The first digit describes the maximum camber as percentage of the chord. The second digit describes the distance of maximum chamber from the airfoil leading edge in tens of percents of the chord. The last two digits describing the maximum thickness of the airfoil as percent of the chord. As well as you can change the profile with the aforementioned parameters, you can also change (for instance):Angle of attack of the rootDihedralTorsion of the wingletSweep for wing and wingletSpanRoot- and Tip-width… Just play around with the parameters and you will see, what will change. There are lots of possibilities to create different wing and winglet types in any kind of shape. In the gif-files below you can see a variation of the parameters. Front View Side View Top View Scope “01Curves” includes all curves that are used for the feature definitions. In the second scope you will find all created surfaces and in the third scope “03Settings” you will find all changeable parameters. If you want to know, how the thickness line and the mean camber line are calculated, please take a look in the identically named feature definitions. Kind regardsPatricia wing.fdb
Britton Ward 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2018 Has anyone had success opening this model with version 4.3.1? I've been trying this afternoon but it either hangs on the loading or if loads CAESES locks up entirely and has to be force shut down. There is a statement INFO Mathematical Function: sqrt warning written to the console but am unable to edit the model to see where the problem is.
Ceyhan Erdem 14 Report post Posted August 29, 2018 Hi Britton, Please find attached the compatible project. The problem arose due to generic curve definition which was taking a lot of time to update. Setting the curve definition as nurbs resolved the problem. Please check and let me know if everything is fine. CheersCeyhanwing.fdb
Britton Ward 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2018 Thank you.. works great. I've found this to be a really useful example.
