Joining Trimmed surfaces

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone

I imported a RORO ship in IGES format to FF but instead of a single surface i got serveral trimmed surfaces due to the Rhinoceros modeling method applied in the previous design phase.

I wanted simply to join this surfaces under the name Hull and use the feature for analysing the offset data.

best regards

Hey Carlos,

Did you solve your problem with the trimmed surfaces? Unfortunately we do not support trimmed surface import at the moment, but we are currently working hard to

be able to import trimmed surfaces.

There is a workaround:

  • export the roro-hull as .STL
  • import the stl to CAESES/FFW
  • create a section group with FTrimesh of your hull as input
  • create offsets from section group
  • now you should be able to analyse your hull

Please see the attached file with a small example.

Regards,

Karsten
