  1. Hey Felipe,

    Sorry for the late reply.

    If I understand you correctly the empty line defines a new set off data right?

    If so you can use this feature. Please note, that the feature now does not create a table of the imported data.

    It is based on the import2Ddata. (features > tools > Import 2D data from files)

    1) Simply create a feature definition via features > new definition,

    2) select Reload button.

    3) choose the downloaded import3DDataWithSeperator.fdf file.

    I hope this solves your problem.

    In this post you can find a custom import for geomturbo data files.

    Which has a string as separator. If you want to use a String instead of an empty line.

    Cheers,

    karsten

    Hi Karsten,

    Thanks for creating these files. The 3D import works fine for me. How can I import 2D data then? I did not find "import 2D data from files in features".

    Cheers

  2. Sure (if I understand correctly). Read in the curve points, create a curve (e.g. an interpolation curve) and use the curve commands

    getTan()
    getDeriv()

    and so on. All type commands can be accessed by clicking on the type icon: attachicon.gifcurve_commands.png

    Hello Joerg,

    Thanks for your reply. I have already done the calculation and .csv import and export. Is it possible to make one parameter, eg. X column in the table (.csv) to be design variable in optimisation? Thank you for your help.

  3. You can control the functions by design variables, i.e. the parameters of the function.

    Cheers

    Claus

    Here is an example: attachicon.giffunction_and_design_variable.png

    The design variable x is the one you vary in the design engine. The parameter "function" can contain any kind of expression, and also additional design variables, of course.

    Thanks for your reply. As your example, this makes "x" into the design variable. Is it any way to make each value of the function into design variable? Cheers.

  4. Hi guys!

    My project is to optimise the variable pitch vertical axis turbine using genetic algorithm. I have already finished modelling and many simulations for validation in STARCCM+, which means the next step is optimising it to get the best total torque or power efficiency. I am really new to CAESES and I have some question about this connecting process.

    Firstly, I have noticed some examples about shape optimisation using CAESES + STARCCM+, but can I use CAESES to optimise the pitch motion function of the blade (just one function which needs to be exchange between CAESES and STARCCM)? Secondly, how can I transfer the results (torque) from STARCCM+ to CAESES and let CAESES to choose the pitch motion function? Do I need to create a new model in CAESES again?

    Thank you so much for your time.
