  1. Claus,

I have followed the directions you have posted. I have another question. In order to perform the optimization on my propeller, is it necessary to integrate an external CFD software with CAESES or does CAESES alone have the ability to perform the optimization. I am mostly interested in the obtaining the thrust outputted by my surface piercing propeller as well as the efficiency of the propeller at varying RPMs. I do not have a CFD software on the same computer as CAESES, so if a CFD software is necessary, my next question is will I be able to transfer my CAESES license to a school computer that has ANSYS FLUENT?

    Thank you for your help,

    Kevin

  2. Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to run an analysis on my propeller that would allow me to input value such as RPM, velocity, etc and output values such as efficiency and required thrust. My main issue is determining the optimal RPM and Diameter values to use for my application. If this optimization process is possible in CAESES, would you kindly inform me how to go about doing this?

    Thank you very much,

    Kevin

  3. Hello,

How do you open the .fdf files? I tried opening it using CAESES-FFW but it would not open. I am currently making a cleaving propeller for a senior project and I need to close the tip of the blade in order for the CNC machine at my school to be able to read the file to manufacture the propeller. My skills with CAESES are still very poor and I was not able to close the tip of the blade based on what you wrote in this thread.

Can you provide any additional guidance for me on this topic, possibly a youtube video or a more detailed guide? I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions for me I would be more than happy to respond.

    Thank you.

  4. Hello,

I am a senior mechanical engineering major in college working on a solar boat for my senior project. My task on this team is the propeller design. Our plan is to manufacture a cleaving propeller to be used in a surface piercing configuration. Currently, I have a CAD model of the tutorial propeller that came with the free version of CAESES.

My question is, how do I create the "straight" trailing edge characteristic of cleaving propellers? I have played with the variables: rake, skew, pitch, chord, and thickness, but I cannot create the geometry I am looking for. Can anyone in here provide me with some assistance?

I apologize if this post is in the wrong place or not specific enough. I will provide any and all information I can if it is needed to answer my question. Thank you.

Also, I have attached the .fdbc model of my propeller to this thread.
