  1. It is very pratical for naval architect to have a lines plan in dwg format so they can do further work in AutoCAD.

Actually, every naval architect need to view lines plan in AutoCAD. Normally, the procedure is they get a hull design from CAESES, for instance, and then import it into NAPA by igs format, then get a dwg file from NAPA. It's low efficient and complicated.

So it would be really helpful if CAESES can get a lines plan in CAESES. Techincally, I think it's not too difficult, just get some sections from X, Y ,Z directions.

I attach a lines plan to make sure you really understand what I mean.

  2. Dear Quoc Bao Nguyen,

I'm the support engineer of CAESES in China, I have experience using both CAESES and SHIPFLOW. I hope I can help you with your problem.

May I ask you how do you get your offset file? Do you generate it from IGS file ? Sometimes if there is something wrong with the offset file, then you can not run it with shipflow.

I'm sorry the google service is not available in China. It would be better if you can send your file or project to my email address. caeseschina@163.com

    Regards,

  4. Hi

Just some inputs on this topic.

Yes. It is possible to recreat the imported ige file. But it is not possible to use only one meta surface to create a ship. For a typical vessel like bulker, tanker, container, a dozen of diifferent meta surfaces are needed. Hence, most times we dont re-model the ship (so-called fully parametric). Usually, like Matthias suggested, partially parametric modelling is used. We can modify the LCB, the bulb length and height, or the skeg shape to reduce the resistance or for a better wake quality,

Just in case you are not aware of it, there is a CAESES users QQ group, 108879537. There are lots of CAESES materials or tutorials in it, both in Chinese and English. And there are already 99 users in this group. Maybe you are already in there.

    Regards,

    Daniel
