Changing Entrance Angle

Good Day,

 

I like to seek for advise on changing the entrance angle of an Offshore Support Vessel. Changing the entrance angle would result in changing the bulbous bow shape.

How can I change the entrance angle at the DWL where the bulbous bow remains as the same original shape?

Hi Ben,

 

with the current definition this is not possible as the entrance angle of the bulbous bow surface at the stem covers the draft mark. For a smooth developement of this angle we need a smooth function |basicCurves|bulbangle|fwdAngle.

 

I changed the angle function into a two parts function designed with fsplines. This allows you to exactly set the waterline entrance angle. But still the bulbous bow will change accordingly to keep a smooth entrance angle distribution. You can find the function in |basicCurves|bulbangle|alternativ.

 

If this approach isn't sufficient enough you would have to change the foreship design, at least split the bulbous bow part in two surfaces (underwater and overwater part).
