Mr. SUMIT CHAVAN 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2019 I have modeled a hard chined planing hull with deadrise angle varying along the length in PARAMARINE.I want to create a series of this hull by changing the deadrise angles keeping the volume constant. Can somone please help me with this?Thankyou!
Mr. Paulo Macedo__0002 2 Report post Posted April 8, 2019 Hi Chavan,If by helping you mean modelling it yourself, you should start with the hull modelling tutorials. They teach exactly how to model a hull, hard chines, tangencies and so on. To keep the volume constant I would say it is a little more advanced, but not difficult at all. Follow the topics below to understand it better:https://www.caeses.com/forum/index.php?/topic/307-internal-optimization-to-keep-a-volume-steady-for-each-design/https://www.caeses.com/forum/index.php?/topic/734-constant-volume-kept-during-dakota-optimization/The most important thing is that you need to define a parameter for CAESES to vary and find the displacement you need. For example, if increasing the deadrise angle, the displacement at the same draft will be smaller, so you could simply sink the vessel slightly. Or, you could vary the fullness of the chine line to compensate the lost volume. All that CAESES can solve easily. But most important is to have an idea of which parameter you will vary to reach the displacement wanted, even before modelling. In other hand, if you want someone to build the model for you, you should enter in contact with the friendship system team and discuss with them. I recommend you try to model it by yourself, come back to this topic, upload your files and problems as many times as you need to finish your project. You can always look for pre-built models and project examples in the search field in the upper right corner and in the documentation inside CAESES. Mr. SUMIT CHAVAN 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2019 Hi Paulo, Thank you for the reply. i have already modeled the hull in PARAMARINE and I exported it in CAESES in STL format.when I am trying to use the optimization bar for creating the new design i.e a variant of the original one it is not showing me any parameter that can be varied. Can you help me with that? Thanking you,Sumit
Mr. Paulo Macedo__0002 2 Report post Posted April 9, 2019 It is great that you have your STL "dead geometry" from another software. You can use it as a template to parametric re-model it in CAESES. Just follow the tutorials. If you don't model it in CAESES you will not have parameters to vary, obviously. Another alternative is to create transformations to an image of your imported geometry. Again, follow tutorials. Cheers,Paulo
