Optimization algorithms (design engines) can be utilized for geometric tasks, too.

See the attached project for a sample feature definitions which encapsulates a basic optimization task:

 

Given is a bspline curve in the yz-plane and a position in this plane which shall be interpolated by the initial spline. Within the feature definition, another bspline is created and varied so that it finally passes through the target position.
