Optimization of the propeller fan (ventilation fan)

Hi, everyone.

I'm a graduate student of Japan, and I'd like to optimize the propeller fan by using meridional camber lines.

But now I am new to CAESES, I can't understand the optimize procedure.

 

Anyway, I've imported IGES file of meridional camber lines from ANSYS.

 

It would be helpful if anyone had any advice.

Hallo Takaya,

 

now that you have the camber lines you will need to rebuild them and use the meridional camber provided in CAESES.

If you open the "Documentation Browser" in CAESES (it is next to the 3D Window tab) you can select tutorials and will find 2 tutorials under "Content of Blade Design" named "Impeller Design" and "Meridional Camber" that will teach you how you can do it.

The meridional camber curve object can be useful for pump design. For other impeller types or axial machines, I recommend to use the stream section curve.

 

The general process in CAESES is:

  • Create hub and shroud contour (you can also use imported curves for this, or rebuild them with fully-parametric curves in CAESES).
  • Create a camber surface by using a camber curve definition in a (x=m',y=theta) system. The camber curve needs to be wrapped in a feature definition. The stream section curve type does the transformation from the 2D definition into the 3D space.
  • Create the blade based on the camber surface and a thickness-based profile definition.
  • Optional: Apply solid and fillet operations to create a solid body.
