Opengl glx on mesa open source driver

Recommended Posts

I have a old Radeon HD 4530 graphics card that AMD no long provide updated drivers for.  The open source driver support for this card is excellent so I have been using mesa for 3D acceleration.  The problem was the installation requirements for Caeses/FFW states it needs a propriety driver, even though Mesa support Opengl glx.

I tried it any and yes the 3d rendering failed.  There was an error stay unable to load driver: r600_dri.so

An internet search showed this was a common problem for Steam and one of the solutions was to remove libstdc++.so from the steam lib folder.  I found this file in the ..CAESES-FFW_3.1.2_Linux.x86_64/lib/ folder and I have renamed it.

Now the 3D rendering works but I don't know if there will be any other side effect.  As I learn how to used Caeses/FFW I will let you know if I find any.

Meanwhile I hope others will find this useful.
